# OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Financial Services

> OpenAI ships ChatGPT for Financial Services: Astra plus hosted PitchBook, Daloopa, and LSEG data for banker research, models, and cited decks.

OpenAI on September 10, 2026 introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services—a ChatGPT Work vertical that pairs GPT-6 Astra with premium market data the company indexes and hosts itself. The story is a banker workspace, not a general Astra recap: hosted fundamentals, granular citations, firm templates, and a way around flaky MCP connectors for core research and pitch work.

Design partners Morgan Stanley and Evercore shaped the first release around investment banking and equity research. OpenAI says those firms flagged reliable data access and high-quality artifact creation as the biggest day-to-day pain points. Partner work will also inform post-training, product changes, and later expansion into other financial-services categories.

Data is the foundation OpenAI is selling. The product includes datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase—earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, private-company records, and more. Bankers can start without a separate contract or connector for each feed. OpenAI hosts and indexes the data on its infrastructure to improve retrieval, latency, and citations, so a figure or claim can be traced to a specific table or passage. In a P&L normalization, that means inspecting the notes behind an adjusted EBITDA and deciding how to use it in a valuation.

OpenAI is blunt about MCP. Built-in premium data is meant to remove connector and access headaches for the datasets that matter most. The company also says it has optimized some of the most-used financial MCP connectors and that a broader ecosystem of more than 50 connectors includes Datasite, Box, Preqin, FactSet, and Intapp.

Existing terminal and news subscriptions are in scope too. OpenAI is working with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s on shared sign-in and entitlement, so a provider can recognize a ChatGPT login and honor data the firm already pays for.

Administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates from a dedicated admin page. With firm templates and style guides configured, teams can turn analysis into valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks in house format. GPT-6 Astra is positioned for information retrieval, financial reasoning, and artifact generation; newer models are slated to show up in the product as they ship. On OfficeQA Pro, which tests analysis across U.S. Treasury Bulletins, OpenAI reports Astra at 69.9% versus 60.2% for GPT-5.6 Sol.

Controls build on ChatGPT Enterprise: SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access, information-barrier workspaces, encryption at rest and in transit, configurable retention, and compliance-log export into existing audit workflows. Customer business data is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default. The SKU is available to eligible financial institutions through sales.

Reuters and Bloomberg independently confirmed the Thursday launch, the Morgan Stanley and Evercore design partnership, and the investment-banking and equity-research focus.

If you run coverage or IB at an eligible firm, read OpenAI’s product post, then ask financial-services sales how hosted datasets, entitlements, templates, and information-barrier workspaces would land on your desk.
