# Claude Code 2.1.273 adds gateway hint headers and remote-control forks

Claude Code 2.1.273, published 15 September 2026, is a patch for people who terminate through an LLM gateway, run MCP servers, or drive sessions from the Claude app. It adds opt-in request headers, a visible MCP dropout path, and a way to fork remote-control work onto the local machine.

**Hint headers for gateways**

Five request headers are now available for LLM gateways: `x-claude-code-request-class`, `x-claude-code-agent-type`, `x-claude-code-prev-tool-durations`, `x-claude-code-compaction`, and `x-claude-code-context-compacted`. They stay off unless you set `CLAUDE_CODE_GATEWAY_HINT_HEADERS=1`.

**MCP disconnects and expired sign-in**

When an MCP server disconnects mid-session and automatic reconnection gives up, you get a notification that points at `/mcp`. If an MCP server's sign-in expires mid-session, the error now says how to re-authenticate via `/mcp`.

**Fork remote-control onto your computer**

A session started with `claude --remote-control`, or with `/remote-control` from the Claude app, can be forked. The fork runs as a background session on your computer.

**Bash prompts, a 2.1.268 revert, and credential errors**

Bash commands the permission checker cannot fully analyze no longer skip the prompt under `permissions.blockReadsOutsideWorkingDirectories`. A subshell that hid a dangerous `rm` in bypass mode is fixed.

The tag also reverts a 2.1.268 change that checked Read and Edit deny rules on Bash lines the checker cannot analyze (`eval`, `env -C`). Commands like `time -p make build` prompt again instead of being denied.

401/403 errors on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry, and Claude apps gateway 403s, no longer only tell you to run `/login`. The message now names the credential to refresh or points to your gateway administrator. Auto mode on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry uses the local classifier by default; set `CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_SERVER=1` for the platform's server-side classifier.
