# Gemini 4 Argon is live on the paid API and for Ultra in Antigravity

> Gemini 4 Argon is open on the paid Gemini API and for Ultra users in Antigravity, at an introductory API price.

On October 13, 2026, Google opened Gemini 4 Argon to developers and enterprises. The useful question is which door you can actually walk through. The model is on the paid Gemini API. In Google Antigravity, it is for Google AI Ultra subscribers and eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions, not a free default on every surface.

## Who gets Argon

Koray Kavukcuoglu's launch post says Argon is globally available that day for developers and enterprises via the API in AI Studio and the Gemini platform, for Ultra subscribers in Antigravity, and for Ultra and Pro subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. The developer post tells builders to start on the paid tier of the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio. Ultra subscribers can also try it in AI Studio and in Antigravity, Google's agent-first development platform. The launch post also points enterprises at Gemini for business, the API, and Antigravity.

Antigravity's model docs draw a harder line than a loose "it's in Antigravity" headline:

- Free and Google AI Plus: no Argon
- Google AI Pro: no Argon
- Google AI Ultra: Argon
- Enterprise: Argon

That Argon row says the model is not available in the Antigravity IDE. It is available in the Antigravity app, the Antigravity CLI, and IDE extensions. The Antigravity blog describes the same-day rollout as the desktop app and CLI for Ultra subscribers, Antigravity on eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions, and the API in Gemini platform for businesses. If your plan includes the model, that post says to update to the latest version of Antigravity.

Pro is easy to misread. Ultra and Pro both get Argon in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. Among consumer Antigravity plans, the docs mark only Ultra as available. The Antigravity team also says Argon is built for the hardest problems, and that later models are the ones they expect a broader set of builders to use as everyday drivers.

## Price, context, and what the API allows

The launch post prices Argon at an introductory $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens at 95% off. How long that introductory rate lasts is not stated in the announcement text. On the API, caching is implicit only. Explicit caching is not supported.

The model code is `gemini-4-argon`, listed as the stable version, with an October 2026 update. The model page was last updated 2026-10-13 UTC. Google calls it a flagship reasoning model for complex software engineering, deep mathematical and scientific problem solving, autonomous multi-step agents, and long decode up to 1 million tokens.

The API lists a unified input-and-output context window of 1,048,576 tokens. The default synchronous output limit is 65,536 tokens. Long decode can go up to 1,048,576. Thinking is supported at low, medium, and high. Inputs can be text, image, video, audio, and PDF. Output is text. Image generation, audio generation, and the Live API are not supported. The launch post says the 1 million token figure is a unified input-output limit and points developers and enterprises at a continuation protocol for long decodes. It also says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, which Google describes as covering finance, coding, legal, and tax work.

The Antigravity post treats October 13 as the in-product rollout after an introduction earlier in the month. The usage figures are Google's own. Over 100,000 Alphabet users rely on Argon in the internal Antigravity build each month, that post says. Over a four-week period, Google reports a 35% increase in agentic code and a 30% decrease in post-submit rollbacks. Separately, the launch post says Argon in Antigravity has helped teams increase agentic code submissions by more than 35% while reducing code rollbacks by nearly a third.

Scientists have another gated path, not a general free tier: Google is offering 10,000 scientists the highest Antigravity usage tier free for six months, onboarded on a rolling basis and subject to eligibility, capacity, and selection.

Before you wire a job to Argon, open the Gemini API model page and confirm `gemini-4-argon` on a paid key in AI Studio. Budget for the 65,536-token synchronous output cap unless long decode is set up. If the goal is an Antigravity agent, confirm Ultra or an eligible Enterprise subscription, then look in the app, the CLI, or an IDE extension — not in the Antigravity IDE.
