# Kimi K3.1 Pro is on the API; the weights are not published yet

> Moonshot introduced Kimi K3.1 Pro on Oct. 23. The Kimi API lists that model and a Highspeed variant. Weights are not published yet. Artificial Analysis scores K3.1 Pro at 55 on its Intelligence Index and first among openly available models on its Cyber Index.

Moonshot put Kimi K3.1 Pro on the Kimi API on October 23, 2026. Developers can call it now. The weights are not published.

The @Kimi_Moonshot post that day introduces the model as “our most capable 3T-class open-weight model”: a multimodal mixture-of-experts with 2.8 trillion total parameters, 104 billion active, and a 1 million-token context window. Moonshot says it handles full-project coding, including games in Unreal, Unity, and Godot, and parametric 3D modeling in Blender and CAD.

Artificial Analysis, writing the same day, separates that label from the files. Weights are not currently published. AA says Moonshot is expected to release them soon after launch, and that K3.1 Pro would then be the highest-scoring open-weights model on the Intelligence Index. Until that release, the “open-weight” line is not a checkpoint you can self-host.

## Two API SKUs

The Kimi API catalog lists K3.1 Pro as the first K3.1-series model and Kimi’s most capable flagship to date: 3T-class parameters, native visual understanding, a 1 million-token context, and substantial gains in coding, 3D creation, financial research, and modeling.

Pro is priced at $2.00 per million input tokens, $10.00 per million output tokens, $2.00 per million cache-write tokens, and $0.20 per million cache-hit tokens.

K3.1 Pro Highspeed sits beside it. The catalog says it keeps the same intelligence and the same 1 million-token window at roughly 3× the speed, priced at $4.00 input, $20.00 output, $4.00 cache write, and $0.20 cache hit per million tokens. That roughly 3× figure is the API page’s. The retrieved launch-post text does not state a speed multiple, so this piece does not average it with any other claim. The API page has no date, and neither the October 23 launch post nor the Artificial Analysis article mentions Highspeed, so this piece does not date that SKU to launch day.

Artificial Analysis quotes the same $2 / $10 / $0.20 input, output, and cache-hit rates, and says those three are 33% lower than Kimi K3. On the API page, K3 remains at $3.00 input, $15.00 output, $3.00 cache write, and $0.30 cache hit.

## What Artificial Analysis measured

These are Artificial Analysis’s October 23 index results, not an outside re-run.

On the Intelligence Index, K3.1 Pro scores 55 and ranks fourth, 11 points above Kimi K3 (max) at 44. AA says it trails only Claude Opus 5.5 (max with fallback, 58), Claude Sonnet 5.5 (max with fallback, 56), and Muse Wonder Full (max, 56). Once the weights ship, AA says the gap between the leading open-weights model and proprietary models on that index would narrow from 12 points to 3.

The gains AA highlights are agentic:

- On GDPval-AA, K3.1 Pro is third at 1,846 Elo, up 312 Elo from Kimi K3, behind Claude Opus 5.5 (1,866 Elo) and Muse Wonder Full (1,857 Elo).
- On Terminal-Bench 4.0 it scores 67%, which AA calls the highest of any model, up from 13% for Kimi K3 and ahead of Claude Sonnet 5.5 at 64%.
- On AutomationBench-AA, AA’s agentic SaaS-workflow test, the score rises from 58% to 73%.

Other evals moved less. Humanity’s Last Exam rose from 47% to 52%, CritPt from 23% to 25%, and SciCode from 59% to 61%. The AA-Omniscience Index rose from 20 to 30; AA reports the hallucination rate falling from 53% to 44% and accuracy rising from 48% to 51%.

Cost per Intelligence Index task is roughly equal to Kimi K3, at $1.98. K3.1 Pro uses 55,000 output tokens per task, 14% more than K3’s 48,000. Lower token prices are what keep the task cost about flat.

AA also lists text and image as the input modalities, with the same 1 million-token context and the 2.8 trillion / 104 billion parameter split.

A separate Artificial Analysis post the same day calls K3.1 Pro the new number-one openly available model for agentic cyber defense, behind only the trusted-access model GPT-6 Sol (Daybreak Blue). That post scores it at 64% and says it is seven points ahead of the model linked in the rest of the post. The rival’s name is not in the retrieved text. “Openly available” there is not the same as weights you can download. AA’s index article still says those weights are unpublished.

## What to do next

If you need the model in an agent today, call K3.1 Pro or Highspeed from the Kimi API and read Artificial Analysis’s October 23 Intelligence Index article before quoting the ranks. If you need to self-host, wait. The weights are expected soon, not published, and the launch post’s open-weight wording is not a download.
