# Salesforce and Anthropic launch Claudeforce with Salesforce in Claude

> Salesforce and Anthropic ship Claudeforce: a 37-skill Salesforce-in-Claude plugin for governed CRM actions, with open beta planned for September 2026.

Salesforce and Anthropic launched Claudeforce on August 26, 2026, and the first product is not a new Agentforce model. It is Salesforce itself, shipped as a Claude plugin.

Salesforce in Claude arrives with 37 prebuilt sales skills—meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review among them—so sellers can reason over live revenue data, automate pipeline updates, and write back to CRM records without opening Salesforce. Actions still run under existing Salesforce permissions and business rules. Claudeforce is the partnership brand. Salesforce in Claude is the product.

That distinction is the story. For years, enterprise AI in CRM meant swapping models behind a vendor’s own agent platform. This launch puts the system of record inside the model UI. If CRM data, permissions, and governed writes live in Claude, sellers skip Lightning screens. Other SaaS vendors will be asked to do the same.

## A plugin, not a prompt pack

Salesforce and Anthropic built the skills together. They say these are not generic CRM prompts wrapped around an API. They are meant to use Claude’s reasoning, agentic tool use, and generative UI. Onboarding reads a seller’s enterprise context—Salesforce, Slack, and any connector already in Claude—and stands up a tailored dashboard of accounts, pipeline, and live data in views Claude generates.

Setup is one admin connection. Authentication and permissions stay in the Salesforce model customers already run. There is no per-user MCP wiring, no new permissions model, and nothing to re-audit account by account. Writes still route through Salesforce so company rules fire. Claude sees what the user is authorized to see and can do only what that user is authorized to do. On the write side, teams decide how much autonomy to grant—checking before Claude emails anyone outside the company, or sending once they are comfortable.

Patrick Stokes, Salesforce’s president of applications and marketing, told VentureBeat the plugin productizes how Anthropic already ran Salesforce: almost exclusively through Claude, skills, and MCP servers. Customers who tried Headless 360 on their own hit friction. Average knowledge workers do not want to discover MCP servers, wire them, and prove permissions. An administrator connecting once, he said, solved that.

VentureBeat describes the product as a plugin for Anthropic’s Claude CoWork. Under the hood, Claude matches a request to a skill—Stokes called those skills “human-like instructions”—then executes against Salesforce’s MCP server, which inherits the user’s existing access. If you do not own the record, the server does not either.

## Claude inside Agentforce, too

The partnership runs both directions. Claude is available in Agentforce as the reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine, powers Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default, and is available in Agent Builder. Through Amazon Bedrock, it can run inside the Salesforce Trust Boundary for regulated deployments.

Salesforce calls the connective tissue AIforce: an enterprise harness that exposes data, workflows, business logic, actions, and governance to any agent through MCP servers, APIs, and CLI tools. Headless 360 is that collection of capabilities so AI can call the platform with no Salesforce UI required—including, the companies say, headless work inside Claude Code. Marc Benioff, Salesforce chair and CEO, framed it as software that powers every interface rather than a static screen: “Here, the UI is the AI.” CNBC noted it is the first time Salesforce has put its “force” suffix on another company’s product.

Claude is also the default model across Slack—powering Slackbot, Claude Tag, and Slack Code—so teams can reason in the thread and execute governed Salesforce actions without leaving the flow of work. The companies are strategic customers of one another. Salesforce says Claude is its preferred AI assistant internally, including Claude Code for developers, and that Slackbot has driven 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains.

## Same-day scale

The announcement landed the same day Salesforce reported fiscal second-quarter 2027 results. Agentforce and Data 360 annual recurring revenue reached nearly $3.9 billion, up more than 210% year over year. Agentforce ARR exceeded $1.5 billion, up more than 240%. Starting this quarter, that Agentforce figure includes Slackbot and Headless 360—the same harness Claudeforce rides. CNBC reported Salesforce shares rose 12% in extended trading after the partnership and the quarter.

Stokes told VentureBeat the companies are not selling this on one contract yet. Salesforce charges through headless consumption tied to edition and API access; customers contract separately with Anthropic for Claude inference. He also drew a line between Agentforce, which he described as built for autonomous or customer-facing work, and Salesforce in Claude, a knowledge-worker agent for sellers who should not have to click through records to synthesize a plan.

Dario Amodei, Anthropic’s CEO and co-founder, told CNBC the companies put a “huge amount of effort” into permissions and are building “Enterprise Frontier Safeguards” so customer data stays private and models “don’t run out of control.” Salesforce’s product page adds zero data retention on Sonnet, Opus, and Haiku, and says that when Claude updates a record, it changes only the field it said it would.

## Pilots now, open beta in September

Salesforce in Claude is in select pilots now. Open beta is expected in September 2026, with additional prebuilt skills later in 2026. Sales ships first; more for other teams is promised after that. Salesforce is customer zero—its own account executives piloted it on live pipeline.

Alexa Vignone, Salesforce’s president and chief revenue officer, said sellers start the day with pipeline review and account history already done: “We’ve never had a software rollout where reps asked for access this fast.”

The bet is blunt. If the interface layer moves into Claude, Salesforce is arguing its moat was never Lightning. It was decades of data, metadata, workflow, and governance. Stokes rejected the idea that living in Claude makes Salesforce less valuable. “The value of Salesforce is not in our UI itself,” he told VentureBeat. “It’s in the data and the metadata.”

Whether other SaaS vendors follow—with the same admin-once plugin, inherited permissions, and governed writes inside the model—will be the question buyers ask next.

If you run sales on Salesforce, join the Claudeforce waitlist ahead of the September open beta, and see the product live at Dreamforce, September 15–17, 2026 in San Francisco.
