# T3 Code nightly ships Orchestrator V2 with Pi, a thread MCP, and delegate_task

> T3 Code’s Orchestrator V2 nightly adds Pi and OpenCode 2, a thread MCP, and delegate_task so one agent can run children on other harnesses.

T3 Code's first Orchestrator V2 nightly is a harness update still being polished, not a Pi 1.0 launch. `v0.0.46-nightly.20261003.2610` (commit `8ed276c246b6`), published October 3, 2026, rebuilds how T3 Code starts, stops, queues, and resumes turns; how it tracks subagents and background work; how threads move between providers; and how history is saved.

On October 2, Theo (@theo) listed what the PR included: Pi support, auto-resume when limits reset, a T3 Code MCP that can create, launch, message, wait on, read, search, and interrupt threads, `delegate_task` so an agent can start child agents on any provider or model, and an ACP Registry for adding any registry agent. This nightly is the first Orchestrator V2 build, and it includes that set. The notes say the team will polish it over the next few days and expect frequent updates.

## One parent, children on any harness

`delegate_task` is the recommended way to combine harnesses. An agent hands work to a child on any provider and model, with its own options and role. Each child runs as its own thread, keeps its own provider-native history, and reports a result. The parent can wait or keep working, then wakes when the children finish, with results batched together. The example in the notes is Claude planning and Codex implementing.

Switching provider, account, model, or options between turns is supported, including a queued switch that does not stop the current turn. Per-provider and per-model options are remembered. The handoff is lossy: the new provider gets a budgeted selection of messages, not the previous provider's reasoning, tool calls and results, or attachments. The agent can look up omitted messages, but the working state the first provider built does not carry over. Changing model or options inside the same provider usually continues that provider's own session.

You can fork from any finished run, including failed, interrupted, and limited ones. Forks stay on the same provider by default and use a native fork where the provider has one (Codex, Claude, Pi, and OpenCode 2), so the full history comes along. Merge the fork's context back into its source when you are done.

Native subagents from Claude, Codex, OpenCode 2, Cursor, and Pi show up as child threads in a lineage view, with model, status, progress, results, and duration.

## The thread MCP

The T3 Code MCP is how an agent drives those threads: create, launch, message, wait, read, search, and interrupt. It can also fork and merge back, edit and reorder queues, answer questions, rename threads, regenerate titles, link pull requests, settle threads, manage scheduled tasks and projects, hand work to a worktree, and list or close previews. Agents cannot approve their own permission requests.

Attach another thread as context by typing `@` and the thread's name, or by dragging a thread from the sidebar into the composer.

## Pi, OpenCode 2, and minimums

Pi support covers Pi 1.0: native resume, fork, rollback, and steering; skills, extensions, and extension dialogs; T3 Code tools inside Pi; and permission modes Pi enforces itself. The minimum is Pi 0.80.5 or newer. Pi 1.0 is recommended.

OpenCode 2 requires 2.0.18 or newer, with native steering, forks, rollback, compaction, plan mode, child sessions as subagent threads, T3 Code tools injected into the server, and recovery after restarts. T3 Code detects 1.x versus 2.x. OpenCode 1.x keeps its V1 support (steering, rollback, subagents, approvals, plan mode, compaction, and T3 Code tools) and gains forking. New OpenCode features go to 2 only. OpenCode 2 is a separate package, `@opencode/cli`, and it converts OpenCode's shared database the first time it runs. Do not run 1.x and 2.x side by side on one machine. If an OpenCode 1.x approval or question is still waiting, answer or stop it before updating; after a restart, V2 does not show it again.

Other floors: Codex 0.159+, Claude Code 2.1.280+, and Grok 1.0.13+. Settings, then Providers, flags a version that is too old.

The ACP Registry can search the official registry and install an agent on a server you choose, with shared sign-in across devices. The notes name Devin, Cline, Kimi, Droid, and more. Cursor now runs on the official Cursor SDK instead of the CLI.

## Limited, then a one-way copy

Threads stopped by a usage limit show as Limited. Resume manually, resume at reset, or snooze until reset. The queue lives on the server, keeps its order across restarts, survives usage limits, and waits for you to resume it after a restart. With Settings, then General, then Continue threads after restarts turned on, interrupted threads continue after an update, crash, or reboot.

The first V2 start copies the existing database and imports threads. That copy is one way. V1 keeps its own database, and changes in one version do not appear in the other. The notes point to a pinned issue for the move.

V2 servers only accept V2 clients. Current App Store and Play Store releases are still V1, so mobile needs the beta named in the notes: an Android group plus the Play testing page, signed in with the same Google account, or the iOS TestFlight build.

A few controls moved with the rebuild. The desktop app uses a new browser profile, so sites opened inside the app may need a fresh sign-in. The separate agents panel is gone. Subagent threads are read-only; message the parent. Grok no longer offers Auto-accept edits; those threads run in Supervised mode. The token-by-token streaming setting is gone.

Read "Before you update" on the nightly page before you point a phone or an OpenCode install at this build. Then try one `delegate_task` handoff, a parent on one provider and a child on another, before you trust a mid-thread provider switch.
