Blockworks said on October 1, 2026, that its hosted Model Context Protocol server is live. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients can query the company's crypto datasets through it, but only with a Blockworks API key. The company says the MCP comes with an API subscription. Existing key holders can connect today. Everyone else is told to book a demo.
The data product page calls it one hosted server with nothing to install. The remote endpoint is https://mcp.blockworks.com/mcp. In Claude, Cursor, or any other MCP client, Blockworks says you paste one URL and sign in once with that key. In ChatGPT, it says to add the official Blockworks plugin. Unchained's same-day report adds that the company says ChatGPT lists the connector as an official app. Setup guides are at docs.blockworks.com.
Blockworks says customers keep the model, the prompts, and the interface. It says the server uses the same data models as the Blockworks API and Blockworks Intel, so the numbers match everywhere you see them. The product page lists five tools: search_documents for research and news, tabular_catalog to discover tables, tabular_data to read rows, timeseries_catalog to discover series, and timeseries_data to read points. The company says the agent finds a dataset in the catalog and pulls what it needs.
Unchained reported that answers come back with sources attached, and that the server draws on combined Blockworks and Messari data covering more than 40,000 assets. The report ties that feed to the Unified API, released September 24, which merges Blockworks data with Messari, bought in June. Co-founder Jason Yanowitz told Unchained that Messari's MCP "will stay up while customers transition over, then we'll turn it off."
Yanowitz said "a growing share of our customers' workflows happen in ChatGPT or Claude," and that "the data has to be standardized and sourced before it ever gets there." He told Unchained that agents and humans across research analysts, data analysts, and data engineers check every number before it reaches a model, and that every answer comes back with the raw figures and sources. Unchained also noted Blockworks is not the first crypto data firm with an MCP: CoinGecko runs one, and CoinMarketCap lets agents without an API key pay 0.01 USDC per call.
If you already have a Blockworks API key, add https://mcp.blockworks.com/mcp in your client, or use the ChatGPT plugin, and sign in once. If you do not, book the demo Blockworks is using for new access. Read the October 1 post and Unchained's report before you wire a repeating workflow to the endpoint.
