Claude Code 2.1.290, published October 5, 2026 at 23:33 UTC, adds hook fields for tool calls the API ran itself, a subagent's permission check, and the approval an organization requires for a tool.
New fields on turn.step and tool.check
A mod's turn.step hook result now includes serverToolUses. The release notes describe those entries as the tool calls the API ran itself — the advisor — each with its id, name, input, start, and end.
Plugin hooks get a separate addition. The tool.check event now includes agentId, so a hook can tell a subagent's permission check from the main session's.
On a mod's tool.check hook, both the question and the verdict include ceiling. The notes say that field names the approval an organization requires for a tool.
These are listed as three additions, not one shared payload. serverToolUses and ceiling are on mod hooks. agentId is on the plugin tool.check event. The tag does not include sample payloads for any of them.
Partial session names, Deny, and managed-agents onboard
claude attach <name> and claude logs <name> accept part of a session name in place of the id.
The Claude apps gateway's sign-in approval page now has a Deny button. It ends the pending sign-in, so the waiting terminal stops within seconds.
/claude-api managed-agents-onboard has two forms in the notes. With a URL, it sets up the Managed Agents pattern a page describes as ant apply files. With a quickstart name, it builds a Console quickstart template with the ant CLI. The notes give deep-researcher as an example.
After you upgrade, inspect a turn.step result and a tool.check question before you branch on the new fields, and try claude attach with part of a session name. Read the v2.1.290 release notes for the rest of the tag, including fixes outside these commands.
