On October 9, 2026, ClaudeDevs posted that every Pro and Max user from the Claude Code Projects waitlist had just been let in. The docs still describe a gradual public beta, so this is not general availability for every Pro and Max account.

"We just let in every Pro and Max user from the Claude Code Projects waitlist!" The same post points people new to Projects to a 4 minute walkthrough.

Still rolling out

The docs still call Projects a public beta on Pro and Max plans, rolling out gradually. The start they describe is accounts that have used cloud sessions and do not already have projects in claude.ai chat or Cowork. Projects are not on Team or Enterprise plans yet. If Projects does not appear in the sidebar at claude.ai/code, or in the Code tab of the desktop app, the rollout has not reached that account, and the docs say you can join the waitlist.

One conversation, many threads

A project is one ongoing conversation. You say what needs doing, and Claude starts a thread for each task. Each thread is usually a cloud session: Claude Code in the cloud, not on your machine. Threads run in parallel, and you can check on them and steer them from your phone. Cloud threads keep going after you close your laptop. If a task needs something only your computer has, ask Claude to run that thread on your computer through Remote Control. It runs only while that computer is awake.

With a project, you send work to one place, set context once so every new thread starts with the project's instructions, and come back to an Overview pane that shows finished threads, pull requests ready for review, and any thread waiting on you.

You create and use projects at claude.ai/code, in the Code tab of the desktop app, or in the Claude mobile app. The docs say you need a Pro or Max plan and Projects in the sidebar. A project draws on the same plan limits as other Claude Code sessions and uses them faster. A new project runs every thread on Opus at high effort, which the docs say draws on a plan fastest.

If you were on the waitlist, start with the Projects docs, then open claude.ai/code or the desktop Code tab and look for Projects. If it is there, the docs cover a project from scratch or continuing an existing cloud session. On a first project, Claude can take a turn of its own as soon as the project is created, unless you send a message first, and that turn uses your plan. If Projects is missing, join the waitlist. Team and Enterprise remain out.
