A DevDay 2026 recap on the OpenAI Developer Community says Codex Cloud runs tasks while your laptop is closed, with access across devices. It is the line that matters if you want a coding task to keep going after you close the laptop.

What the Codex section lists

The cloud line is the story. The CLI update and Code Review are sibling DevDay pieces in the same list: voice and an agents view on one side, and summaries, diffs, and questions in the review interface on the other. Security Cloud is a separate item. This piece does not cover how to administer it.
What is described, and what is unknown
The recap describes two behaviors and stops. Tasks run while the laptop is closed. Access is across devices. It does not name the devices, the plans, or a way to create, save, or reuse an environment. Whether a task starts from a stored setup or a one-off sandbox is unknown here.
Do not read other replies in the thread as Codex Cloud policy. One asks which subscriptions include Dots. The answer there is Pro, Business, and Enterprise (beta). That exchange is about Dots, not Codex Cloud.
Read the DevDay 2026 announcements thread before you leave a task running in the cloud. Separate the closed-laptop line from the CLI, review, and security notes before you assume a saved environment you can reuse.
