Linear’s official account posted on November 5, 2026, opening with “Meet your new Linear Product Ops.” The post says to set up Grok Bot in Linear in three steps: add the bot, enable Linear’s cloud coding agent, and connect GitHub. It offers $25 in Linear AI credits “to build your next project or automate your workflow.” Credits are available for the next 30 days.

That credit and Linear’s three-step path are not in xAI’s “Grok Bot for Linear” guide, dated November 2, 2026. The guide already describes a Linear project operations Bot that investigates product problems, plans work in Linear, coordinates coding agents, and keeps a team informed. Linear’s post is a setup note and a credit offer, not the first documentation of the bot.

The guide says every decision keeps its reasoning attached. The bot can read related issues, customer requests, documents, and discussions, and separate observed problems from proposed solutions. After a team agrees on an approach, it can create or update issues with acceptance criteria and dependencies. It can also draft project updates grounded in actual progress, risks, decisions, and next steps.

Coding is not the default. The guide says to start with investigation or planning and to authorize implementation explicitly. Once authorized, the bot can hand a small, reviewable task to the connected coding agent the team chooses, with the relevant repository and project context, and watch the issue for a linked pull request. The team keeps control of scope and final approval. A merged pull request is recorded as merged; release and verification remain separate steps. Discovery, planning, and updates do not require a coding agent.

xAI’s setup is five steps. Add the Linear project operations Bot and review its instructions and integrations. Connect Linear and authorize the workspace, following any approval requirements the organization has in place. Connect a preferred coding agent and give it repository and check access; if none is chosen, Grok Bot asks which available agent to use. Give a starting issue or project and the outcome you want. Then set scope, including any recurring checks or notifications. Implementation and monitoring depend on the tools and permissions in the setup.

Linear’s November 5 wording names one agent path — its cloud coding agent, plus GitHub — and attaches the $25 credit. The November 2 guide does not state those terms.

Read Linear’s post for the credit window and the three steps, then the xAI guide for what the project operations Bot is documented to investigate, plan, and hand off.
