Meta and Shopify pair Muse with Shop Pay checkout
Zuckerberg announced a Shopify team-up to make shopping and checkout easier in Muse. Shopify plans the integration with Shop Pay; operational details remain unknown.

Meta and Shopify are putting Shop Pay behind Muse.
On Monday, Meta Platforms and Shopify said they are teaming up so Meta’s personal AI agent, Muse, can complete purchases on behalf of users with Shopify’s roster of stores. The integration will be available with Shop Pay, Shopify’s accelerated, one-tap checkout that stores buyers’ shipping and billing information.
Shopify Chief Executive Tobias Lütke said in a Monday post on X that the move aims to offer an “easy and delightful way to shop and check out with Muse.” Mark Zuckerberg posted: “Teaming up with Shopify to make shopping and checkout easier in Muse. Shoppers find more. Shops sell more. More partnerships like this coming soon.”
Meta released Muse two weeks ago as an AI assistant that can book doctor’s appointments and manage finances, among other tasks. Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang said of the Shopify partnership: “We want to give our musers access to a wide range of stores to find the absolute perfect products.”
How the checkout actually runs is still unknown. Dow Jones reported that neither Meta nor Shopify immediately responded to requests for further details about the partnership. Merchant controls, geography, and how a Muse session hands off to Shop Pay are unknown.
Deutsche Bank analysts called the collaboration another proof point that leading AI platforms are integrating with Shopify’s commerce infrastructure, helping to quell investor concerns that AI agents and personal shoppers could upend its business. “In fact, the partnership suggests the opposite and reinforces Shopify’s core strengths: structured product data through Shopify Catalog, merchant connectivity, trusted checkout through Shop Pay, and the underlying infrastructure required to complete an order,” the analysts said in a note. Shopify shares closed up 7.3%, at $137.92, on Monday.
