Model Auth Status Card
The Control UI now has a dedicated Model Auth status card in the Overview panel. At a glance it shows OAuth token health and provider rate-limit pressure — and raises attention callouts when tokens are expiring or have already expired.
Under the hood, this is backed by a new models.authStatus gateway method that strips credentials before caching, holds the result for 60 seconds, and feeds the card without leaking secrets to the UI layer. For operators running multi-user deployments with OAuth-gated model providers, this is the difference between catching an expired token proactively versus users hitting a mysterious “model unavailable” wall during a demo.

Cloud LanceDB Memory
The memory-lancedb plugin now supports remote object storage for durable memory indexes — no longer limited to local disk. This means your long-term memory layer can live in S3, GCS, or any compatible store, synced across nodes and surviving container restarts without any manual backup gymnastics.
For teams running OpenClaw in containers or ephemeral cloud environments, this closes a major operational gap. Local disk was fine for laptop-scale prototyping; production deployments running across autoscaling groups or serverless runtimes need memory that persists outside the instance.

GitHub Copilot Embedding Provider
A new GitHub Copilot embedding provider for memory search lands alongside a dedicated Copilot embedding host helper. This lets plugins reuse the transport while properly handling remote overrides, token refresh, and payload validation.
If your team is already all-in on GitHub Copilot, you can now route OpenClaw’s memory embeddings through the same provider instead of managing a separate OpenAI or local embedding stack. Tighter integration, fewer API keys to juggle.

Experimental Lean Mode for Local Models
The headline feature for the local-AI crowd: agents.defaults.experimental.localModelLean: true.
Setting this flag drops heavyweight default tools — browser, cron, and message — from the agent’s prompt. The result is a significantly smaller prompt footprint, making OpenClaw viable on weaker local model setups (think: smaller Ollama models, quantized LLMs on consumer hardware) without changing anything for users who don’t set the flag.
This is explicitly experimental, and the trade-off is real — you lose browser automation and scheduled tasks. But for developers building focused coding assistants, document processors, or specialized local agents, trimming those tools removes both tokens and cognitive load from the model at inference time.

Leaner Packaging and Plugin Isolation
A housekeeping PR (#67099, thanks @vincentkoc) localizes bundled plugin runtime dependencies to their owning extensions — stopping core from carrying extension-owned runtime baggage. Published builds are trimmer, install guardrails are tighter, and the plugin isolation model is cleaner.
The QA matrix runner also got split into a source-linked qa-matrix runner, keeping repo-private surfaces out of packaged builds (#66723, @gumadeiras).

Why This Release Matters
The lean mode is arguably the most strategically significant addition here. OpenClaw has been growing feature-rich fast — great for power users, but the prompt-size overhead has been a genuine barrier for local model deployments. Lean mode signals that the project intends to stay relevant for the self-hosted, privacy-first segment of the community, not just cloud-connected enterprise operators.
Cloud LanceDB addresses the other major operational friction: memory that actually works in production. These two together — lean prompt footprint + durable remote memory — make the beta worth testing even if you’re not in the market for the other changes.
