OpenAI and Oracle said on October 27, 2026 that Oracle applications and data are coming into ChatGPT, and that new Oracle products will use OpenAI models. The announcements, made at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, describe a product partnership rather than a customer case study: ChatGPT as a way to work across Oracle systems, plus Oracle offerings built with OpenAI tools.

The expansion sits on an existing commercial relationship. OpenAI said it builds on the OpenAI API, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, and that Oracle has reported 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users. OpenAI also said Oracle’s recruiting team uses ChatGPT Work for market research that once took two to four days to compile, with preparation now taking 15 to 20 minutes. That is current internal use, not a result claimed for the products announced the same day.

What both companies named

Both described an agent-ready enterprise: people and AI agents working across business applications in one environment, with access governed by each organization’s permissions and approvals. OpenAI, not Oracle, also described simpler administration and unified sign-in. Oracle said Oracle AI Workspace puts AI into the flow of enterprise work while maintaining the governance, approvals, and controls required for enterprise operations. Neither company published a general-availability date.

Oracle AI Workspace. OpenAI said Oracle is developing it so someone can describe a task, find the right information, and complete approved workflows in ChatGPT. Oracle said Oracle AI Workspace is designed to connect Oracle Fusion Applications, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle AI Database, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and other enterprise tools and data sources. Plugins in ChatGPT on Oracle AI Workspace are how employees access information and complete approved workflows. OpenAI’s example is a new finance team member investigating costs, purchasing decisions, and what remains before month-end close, using finance, procurement, and planning applications within company approvals.

Oracle AI Security Mesh. OpenAI said it is designed to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure using OpenAI cyber models, and that Oracle manages the testing infrastructure so customers can put those capabilities to work within their authorized scope. Oracle called it a managed service that uses OpenAI cyber models and said coverage includes OCI, other clouds, and on-premises environments. Oracle said customers define where testing is authorized and control its scope, and that Oracle manages independent validation and safeguards meant to reduce the risk of outages or business disruption during testing.

Oracle App Composer. Teams are meant to build apps with Codex and other AI tools, connect them to approved Oracle data and workflows, and share them across the organization. Oracle manages deployment on OCI. Oracle said employees would not need coding expertise to build or maintain the apps, and that Composer applies identity, permissions, networking, audit, and application life-cycle controls, with access to services including OCI Kubernetes Engine and Oracle Autonomous AI Database. It also supports APEXlang, which Oracle called a new technology for generative development without opaque application code that is difficult to maintain.

Oracle AI SMB Bundle. OpenAI said it combines ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle applications and recurring OCI credits for small businesses. Oracle called it free to start and said it provides $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year. Oracle’s list also includes Oracle AI Workspace, Oracle App Composer, and NetSuite QuickStart for operations such as invoicing and cash flow. Terms, conditions, and restrictions apply.

OpenAI said Oracle customers in the United States can buy the OpenAI API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace, using existing procurement and eligible Oracle Universal Credits. The posts do not say the new suite is sold the same way.

What was said, and what CNBC reported

In Oracle’s release, CEO Clay Magouyrk said the suite is “uniting their transformative AI capabilities with Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure—technology that businesses around the world rely on to run their most critical operations.” Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s president and co-founder, said the partnership helps bring that opportunity to more companies, “putting frontier AI into everyday operations so teams can build software faster, strengthen security and take on more complex knowledge work.”

CNBC reported that Oracle is adding ChatGPT and Codex to its application stack. Mahesh Thiagarajan, Oracle’s president of Cloud Infrastructure, told CNBC that using ChatGPT “allows anybody to build an application, deploy it, manage it.” CNBC also reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was set to join Magouyrk for a keynote at 12:40 p.m. ET.

Availability is still a disclaimer

Oracle’s release says this outlines general product direction. It is not a commitment to deliver any material, code, or functionality, and development, release, timing, and pricing remain at Oracle’s discretion. OpenAI’s post matches that caution: Oracle is developing AI Workspace and announcing the other offerings. No ship date was published.

If this is on your buying list, read the October 27 Oracle press release and OpenAI’s partnership post together, including that disclaimer. U.S. Oracle customers looking at access already described as purchasable can check Oracle Marketplace for the OpenAI API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work.
