Stripe Atlas applications can start from an agent
Stripe’s Oct. 19 Atlas update lets an agent start a company application through MCP, while identity, payment, and signatures stay in the Dashboard.

Stripe’s developer blog, dated October 19, 2026, says founders can start a Stripe Atlas application from an AI agent or the terminal without leaving the tools they already use to build. Atlas software engineers Jim Yang and Brett Karpinos wrote the post, “Go from idea to company without leaving your development workflow.”
Through Stripe’s Model Context Protocol server, an agent can explain the Atlas process, retrieve application requirements, collect company information, and relay validation from Atlas. The same application can also start from Stripe CLI Atlas commands in the tools plugin. Progress is saved, so a founder can move among the agent, the terminal, and the Stripe Dashboard without starting over.
The agent does not incorporate the company. After validation, Atlas provides a Dashboard link. Each founder supplies sensitive identity information directly to Stripe, reviews the formation documents, pays, signs, and submits. The post says the agent has not made legal or tax decisions or submitted the company on the founder’s behalf.
It also should not choose the structure. Entity type, ownership, and tax treatment can have legal or financial consequences, so the founder remains responsible. The agent records the decisions the user provides and does not propose an ownership split or a vesting schedule as the right choice. Before sending an update, it shows the values and asks for confirmation. Atlas validates them and stays the source of truth for requirements and application state.
Supported entities named in the post are Delaware C corporations and LLCs. Stripe’s MCP docs, labeled a public preview, list a tool, atlas_company_formation, to start or resume a Delaware C corporation or LLC formation. The recommended setup there is to install the latest Stripe CLI and run stripe agent setup, which detects supported agents. The blog says that path works with environments such as Claude Code and Cursor.
The post describes Atlas as incorporating the startup, retrieving the Employer Identification Number, initiating founder equity vesting, and filing 83(b) tax elections. After submission, Atlas sends a receipt. Later steps such as an EIN or an 83(b) filing depend on the company and the founders.
The same day, Jeff Weinstein wrote that founders could incorporate through a favorite agent with Atlas and the Stripe MCP, and that the flow was available everywhere starting that day. The developer post is more precise: the agent can start the application and carry it through validation, then stop before identity, payment, signatures, and submission.
Read the October 19 post, then connect an agent with stripe agent setup or check the MCP docs for atlas_company_formation. Leave entity, ownership, and tax choices with the founders, and finish identity, payment, and signatures in the Dashboard.
